A mistake

There is a good chance that if a thug tries THIS in Tennessee, or any of the Free States, he might find that he suddenly has some extra orifices in his body.

If you don't go armed, at least adhere to the color codes of awareness, as addressed HERE.

Meanwhile, Remington expands into Alabama. Could this be the beginning of their closing shop in NY after 198 years?

Does Governor Cuomo hear that giant sucking sound of jobs moving south to Free America yet? Does he care?

Farragut guns in parks - call to action

Dear friends,

I am forwarding the following email from Bob Markli, a Town of Farragut Alderman. Your help is needed to show the other aldermen and mayor that there are many of us who support the right to meaningful self defense, which should not stop at the boundaries of the parks our taxes pay for.

Please plan to attend the workshop this Thursday. Please forward this to all of like mind. You don't have to be a resident of Farragut to attend.

Liston Matthews
316-6486

Fellow citizens,

Thanks to your efforts in writing your elected officials, a workshop is scheduled for a discussion on rescinding the current ban on lawful carry permit holders exercise of their constitutional and lawful right in the Town of Farragut parks that our tax dollars support. This workshop will occur from 6:00PM until 6:55PM just before the regular Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on this Thursday, September 26. The meeting will be open to the public.

I am encouraging each of you to commit yourselves to being in that audience and to encourage as many of your friends and family as possible to be there as well to show support for this common sense correction of a poor decision made in 2009 by the Board. Because of the media propaganda surrounding second amendment issues, many elected officials mistakenly believe pro-liberty issues are politically unpopular. Let's help them see that a tiny, pathetic, insignificant and misguided minority cannot dictate policy against the liberties of free Americans.

Yours for liberty,
Bob Markli

Mt. Juliet, Tennessee city employees to pack heat?

John Lott informs us that the City of Mt. Juliet may soon allow employees to carry firearms on the job, provided they have handgun carry permits.

While I am not at all opposed to the idea, this ordinance will create a special class of citizen.Shouldn't the citizens who pay their salaries have the same privilege. What about equal protection under the law?

Zimmerman NOT GUILTY

Just heard the Florida State's Attorney say, "Our hearts as always go out to our victim's family."

Duh - sounded like she was labeling Treyvon Martin as the victim.

The victim, lady, was tried and acquitted. His name is George Zimmerman.

Progressive schizoprenia

Progressives tell us a woman should have the right to choose (to kill her baby). They put a nice spin on it, denying the humanity of the unborn. On the critter scale, they would put the unborn child1 somewhere below the level of baby seals, puppy dogs, and tadpoles. I guess they still hold to the dis-proven "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" theory.

But they angrily deny that a woman should have the right to her weapon of choice to ward off attacks from college rapists, or other nefarious ne'er-do-wells. No choice for her to use a 30 round magazine against a home invasion.

NOTE TO GRANDPARENTS: Don't let the left set the vocabulary. Refuse to say, "I am going to have a grandchild." You already have one. She just hasn't been born yet.

Whaddya think?

Parking Lot bill passed in Tennessee

Sort of . . . This new law is, perhaps a step in the right direction, but leaves a lot of questions unanswered. The best thing is it protects employers from liability.

But, what happens if you are driving a rental car, and your gun happens to be in view? You could be criminally liable. So, its a good idea to make sure it is never left visible, and even better is a locking box. An added advantage of the locking box is that it makes the thief's job more difficulty.

The Republican legislature could have passed a really good bill, but settled, instead for mediocrity.

. . . and they are supposed to be on our side.

Meanwhile, Travelers Advisory for Colorado.  The recently passed bill banning 16 round or greater magazines could land you in the clink. After July 1, magazines of greater than 15 rounds, or magazines readily convertible to greater than 15 rounds are verboten.

From the Michael Bane Blog:
Here's the "inconvenience" the (Colorado) Governor is talking about — arrest for possession of a magazine with a capacity of greater than 15 rounds or a magazine that can be readily converted to such, confiscation of your vehicle (if the magazines were found in a vehicle or any other reason the police can think of), the magazines and your firearms, a trip to jail where you'll be booked, fingerprinted and thrown into a cell . . .
It looks like it is time for Coloradans as well as Tennesseans need to be looking for some truly conservative representatives to replace both Demos in Colorado, and Rinos in Tennessee.

And, if you haven't seen it yet, check out my latest at Examiner.

Dear Mr. Security Agent

The following is reproduced with permission. The author's opinions are his own, but certainly food for thought. LM

http://westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/bracken-dear-mr-security-agent/

For widespread distribution, more cutting-edge commentary from Matt Bracken, former SEAL and
author of the Enemies Foreign and Domestic trilogy, along with his most recent novel, Castigo Cay:

Dear Mr. Security Agent,
Federal, state, or local. You, the man or woman with the badge, the sworn LEO or FLEA and those
who inhabit the many law enforcement niches in between and on all sides. This essay is directed to
you, because in the end, how this turmoil about gun control turns out will depend largely upon your
decisions and actions over the coming months and years.

I sincerely wish that members of Congress—who may soon be voting on new gun control measures—
would read this essay, but I realize that’s a pipe dream, considering the impenetrable bubbles around
those exalted entities. So I’ll settle for you, Mr. (or Ms.) Security Agent, since you already gobble
up everything on the internet, and I don’t have to seek you out.

At Examiner: Are guns OK at Chick-fil-A?

Some stores and businesses post against handgun carry by law-abiding citizens, creating hazard-free work zones for criminals. Others recognize that the law-abiding citizen is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Are Tennessee Republicans paying attention?

The national GOP party platform is very supportive of 2nd Amendment firearms rights. If R&R sweep into office, and get a majority in both the House and Senate, I fully expect National Reciprocity to pass.

Meanwhile, back in Tennessee, the leadership of the Republican Party took the position that a good citizen, who has had a background check, been fingerprinted, and ID'd, can't be trusted to take a gun back and forth to work and leave it locked in the car. They seem to think, not unlike the national leadership of the other party, that lawful gun owners are just one argument away from becoming a mass murderer.

This same leadership has steadfastly refused to bring Constitutional Carry to pass in Tennessee. I suppose they think us hillbillies aren't to be trusted. Not like those folks in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming, whose natural right to self protection has been codified into law. These states' leadership recognize that inherent, God-given right to self preservation with the most useful tool, the handgun; without having to get a permission slip from the state.

The National Rifle Association and Tennessee Firearms Association took a stand against the Tennessee Republican leadership; supported, and helped Courtney Rogers soundly beat part of that leadership, Debra Maggert.

The remainder of the leadership can pay attention now, or pay attention later, when their colleagues are steadily picked off by TFA and NRA.

Sheep, sheepdog, or . . . porcupine?

The idea of sheep, sheepdogs, and wolves describing most of us has been advanced by Lt. Col Dave Grossman:
The sheep are the everyday citizens who go about their business clueless to what's happening around them.
The wolves are the human predators who prey on these sheep.
The sheepdogs are the ones who protect the sheep.

Then, there are the armed citizens who realize that the sheepdogs are not always nearby, and may have to fend of attacks by the wolves. I have not known of a good descriptive name for these, until this week.

This Sunday I heard a caller, Rex, on Tom Gresham's Guntalk describe himself as a porcupine. His statement went something like this, "I'm kind of a porcupine, you know ..., I just amble along,..., I don't feel a responsibility to protect someone who won't protect themselves,...., but you don't want to mess with me..."

Tom says, "I like it."

So do I!

What do you think?

Take action for safer parking lots in Tennessee

From TFA

TFA Email Campaign on Employee Safe Commute Legislation
URGENT - the link/page below is directly to the action center on the TFA website. This page will allow you (and all your friends) to send emails to the Tennessee General Assembly (your individual legislators + all members of both judiciary committees + the governor) telling them how YOU feel about the EMPLOYEE SAFE COMMUTE bill (a/k/a parking lots bill).
It is important that we let our voices be heard - by the thousands - to support this bill because it is almost certain that Speaker Beth Harwell and others who are "first and foremost aligned with Big Business" will try to stop this legislation. It is going to require that we call upon the conservative legislators (not necessarily equal to ALL of the GOP) in both houses and in both parties to carry this bill to law. It will have substantial resistance by those with large and powerful PACS.
Please go to this site now and take less than a minute to participate.  Then, forward this message to every email list that would be interested in this change in the law.  Next, post this campaign and link on every web forum, blog or bulletin board whose members  you believe may have an interest in this change in the law.
