Lies, Lies, and More Lies

The Gun Control Lie

Gun control advocates are compulsive liars.  They have to be because the truth doesn’t support their agenda.  Even the names of gun control groups – suggesting “violence policy,” “violence prevention,” and “gun safety” – are all lies.  And the term “gun control” itself is a lie.  Virtually everything coming from gun control advocates today is a lie.
I’m not talking about simple distortions or cases of “my statistics are better than your statistics,” these are intentional, calculated, bald-faced deceptions, foisted on the American public by ideologically motivated zealots trying to force an agenda of citizen disarmament and government control.  That’s not to say that everyone who supports gun control is driven by the same ideology, or that there are no honest, passionate, idealistic, true believers among the ranks of gun control advocates.  There are some very good, honest, sincere people who promote gun control, but unfortunately these misguided souls are steeped in emotion and inculcated with the never ending lies of the professional gun haters.
Let’s dissect some of the lies:
Over 90% (almost 90%, close to 90%) of Americans support “universal background checks,” as do various large percentages of gun owners and NRA members.
Anyone with a brain should realize that these statistics were fraudulent based solely on the fact that there is almost nothing that 90% of Americans agree on.  But this lie has gotten bigger as time has gone by.  More recent polls place support for any gun control at less than 50%, and approval of the Senate’s rejection of expanded background checks at almost 40% – yet gun control advocates and politicians continue to declare that 90% of Americans support universal background checks.  It is a lie.

Parking Lot bill passed in Tennessee

Sort of . . . This new law is, perhaps a step in the right direction, but leaves a lot of questions unanswered. The best thing is it protects employers from liability.

But, what happens if you are driving a rental car, and your gun happens to be in view? You could be criminally liable. So, its a good idea to make sure it is never left visible, and even better is a locking box. An added advantage of the locking box is that it makes the thief's job more difficulty.

The Republican legislature could have passed a really good bill, but settled, instead for mediocrity.

. . . and they are supposed to be on our side.

Meanwhile, Travelers Advisory for Colorado.  The recently passed bill banning 16 round or greater magazines could land you in the clink. After July 1, magazines of greater than 15 rounds, or magazines readily convertible to greater than 15 rounds are verboten.

Here's the "inconvenience" the (Colorado) Governor is talking about — arrest for possession of a magazine with a capacity of greater than 15 rounds or a magazine that can be readily converted to such, confiscation of your vehicle (if the magazines were found in a vehicle or any other reason the police can think of), the magazines and your firearms, a trip to jail where you'll be booked, fingerprinted and thrown into a cell . . .
It looks like it is time for Coloradans as well as Tennesseans need to be looking for some truly conservative representatives to replace both Demos in Colorado, and Rinos in Tennessee.

2013 March for Life speaker Pastor Sam Polson


The weather was gorgeous for a walk, and a big crowd turned out to honor those unborn children who never  were able to enjoy life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.

Pastor Sam Polson, of West Park Baptist Church, Knoxville was the speaker. Pastor Polson recalled two Supreme Court Decisions that were dark moments in American history. The Dred Scott decision which denied the humanity of Black Americans, and the Roe v Wade decision, which denied the humanity of Unborn Americans.

In the course of time, and after enduring the bloody Civil War, and passage of the 14th Amendment, Black Americans were recognized as persons, and as citizens.

How long before Unborn Americans will be afforded the same recognition?

2013 March for Life

Fifty million Americans are missing!

January 22, 1973. American service personnel were dying in Vietnam, as America acted to prop up the South Vietnamese government under the Domino Theory. Back home, war protests were going on, illegal drugs were all around us.  
Things are pretty much the same now as then, except . . . 

Fifty million Americans are missing!

You see, on that day, the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Roe v. Wade, that abortion is legal.

We have since then heard strong arguments about the concept of 'choice'. The 'pro-choice' movement trumpets a woman's right to choose

Politicians will make such inane statements, as, "I am personally pro-life, but I support a woman's right to choose." 

Let's parse the terminology. On the one side, pro-life means opposition to abortion. On the other, pro-choice means in favor of abortion

So, what is abortion? Simply, the termination of a pregnancy. But, there is some tissue, in addition to the woman's tissue that must be accounted for. You see, her cells were formed by splitting of another cell, mitosis, with each 'daughter cell' having the same exact chromosomes as all her other cells.

Meiosis (the formation of reproductive cells), in contrast with mitosis, produces cells with half the chromosomes of the parents’ cells, 23 in the case of humans. At fertilization, the 23 chromosomes from each parent combine to yield the 46 chromosomes of a new, unique organism. No matter how inconvenient it may be, this unique organism is decidedly human; this organism is an individual person.

Examine the second paragraph of our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are LifeLiberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

How will the children of America who have been denied Life ever celebrate July 4th? How can they celebrate the hope of Liberty, if Life itself is ended almost before it has begun? How can they ever pursue Happiness if they are cut out and discarded liked an ingrown toenail?

Those accused of the most heinous crimes are afforded better protection than unborn humans in America. Amendment V of the Bill of Rights states, in part: “No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The lowliest murderer-rapist,cop-killer or assassin receives the due process of arrest, indictment, guaranteed legal assistance, jury trial, and perhaps multiple appeals. Only after all these does he realistically face a death sentence.

But the unborn child, without benefit of due process, faces certain death at the hand of a stranger. All it takes is a parental decree. No judge, no jury, no Guardian ad Litem. Privacy trumps Life. Convenience trumps responsibility.
Into the fire like the the children of Molech's worshipers  sacrificed on the alter of SELF. 

How long, oh Lord, will you withhold your hand of judgment?

Lambs without a fence, shepherds without slings

Tomorrow morning, millions of families will send their children off to school. These little lambs are entrusted to their school staff to shepherd them safely through the school day.

But, the lone wolf predator lurks at the edge of the flock, looking for prey to satisfy his evil desire for blood. This lone wolf my be deranged, but he is not entirely stupid. He recognizes the fact that the shepherds don't have slings, the No Slings signs rob the shepherds of any effective means of defeating the predator. Sheep dogs are at best ten minutes away and expensive to keep, and the lambfold becomes a slaughterhouse for the lone wolf.

Some adult sheep, who have an irrational fear of slings, insist that it would be b-a-a-a-d for shepherds to have slings. They bleat that the lambs would not feel good with slings in the fold. They think that a shepherd with an advanced degree can't learn how to effectively use a sling. But sheep David G of NBC sends his little lambs to a school surrounded by sheepdogs; while he has a pouch that holds thirty stones, and surrounds himself with sheepdogs.

Will these sheep continue to have their way, with the same results as in the past? Or will the states pass legislation to allow the shepherds to effectively protect the little lambs?

The electric toothbrush

My electric toothbrush operates for two minutes exactly, then shuts off. Some nights, two minutes seems like an eternity.

Police response time to 911 calls is five times that, about ten minutes. Nobody's fault, that's just the way it is.

Why do some people insist that our children, involuntarily placed in gun free zones (our public schools) wait those ten minutes after the predator has arrived and begun his slaughter?

Law enforcement officers are now trained that the first on the scene goes on in, not waiting for backup. This is to minimize the carnage perpetrated by the predator. Armed and trained teachers, volunteers, and police on the scene can reduce the carnage even more by further reducing the lag time.

Think about that the next time you brush your teeth!

Preaching from the baptistry without a license?

Today, I witnessed someone be baptized in my church. The person read a statement, which, although lengthy, recounted some of the person's history. Then the person launched into a leftist gun-ban diatribe which was totally out of place. This person obviously thinks firearms types that have been available for a hundred years have suddenly become living, breathing organisms with malevolent intent. 

The only effective way to deal with armed school invasions is to meet force with superior force very quickly. This means arming teachers and volunteers. School police officers are great, but too few, and spread out.

Are Tennessee Republicans paying attention?

The national GOP party platform is very supportive of 2nd Amendment firearms rights. If R&R sweep into office, and get a majority in both the House and Senate, I fully expect National Reciprocity to pass.

Meanwhile, back in Tennessee, the leadership of the Republican Party took the position that a good citizen, who has had a background check, been fingerprinted, and ID'd, can't be trusted to take a gun back and forth to work and leave it locked in the car. They seem to think, not unlike the national leadership of the other party, that lawful gun owners are just one argument away from becoming a mass murderer.

This same leadership has steadfastly refused to bring Constitutional Carry to pass in Tennessee. I suppose they think us hillbillies aren't to be trusted. Not like those folks in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming, whose natural right to self protection has been codified into law. These states' leadership recognize that inherent, God-given right to self preservation with the most useful tool, the handgun; without having to get a permission slip from the state.

The National Rifle Association and Tennessee Firearms Association took a stand against the Tennessee Republican leadership; supported, and helped Courtney Rogers soundly beat part of that leadership, Debra Maggert.

The remainder of the leadership can pay attention now, or pay attention later, when their colleagues are steadily picked off by TFA and NRA.

Who's your daddy?

Today, I read in the local newspaper about the "division" among Tennessee Republicans over the proposed Republican platform plank, which, according to the article in The Tennesseean,* states that

The GOP platform calls for outlawing abortion in all circumstances. No exceptions.

This prompted me to write, with a heavy heart, this little satirical piece:

My Dear Child,

I know you will find this hard to understand, but it is very important that we know who your daddy is.

You see, if he is married to your mommy, then that's good. If your mommy and daddy are partners and you are what we called in the old days a love child, I can go with that.

But you see, if your daddy is some stranger who came in the window one night and brutally attacked your  mommy, and in the process, you were conceived, then, . . . well you see, don't you?

You see, if they catch your daddy, then he will be, hopefully, locked up for a few years, and when he gets out, I am sure he will be rehabilitated, and never do that again. And maybe your mommy will eventually forget about that terrible night and about you.

If your daddy is also your cousin, then I am sure you would not want to be embarrassed by having him around at birthday parties and Christmas, and, well, again, . . . it would be very uncomfortable for all of us, don't your see?

You do understand that I am pro-life, don't you?

It seems that in much of our society it is of grave importance who your daddy is, because, if he is the wrong person, you become the second victim in this terrible chain of events.

Tennessee House leader Maggert loses to pro-gun challenger

Thursday, in a hotly contested Republican primary race, Debra Maggert lost to challenger Courtney Rogers. The back story is that the current Republican leadership made big promises to gun advocates, but after taking the majority of seats in the House, forgot who brung them to the dance.

The NRA and Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA) both jumped into this race, and aided Rogers. Here is  TFA's Executive Director, John Harris, in a post-election interview(a little over three minutes):



Here's the deal, gun rights advocates will continue to replace politicians who make big promises, then turn their backs on us when they get into office.

The Speaker and her cronies should take a lesson from this.

Chuy's Restaurant

Went to Chuy's Restaurant today.
Good food. Lori, our server, was great. I ordered the Elvis and a Coke. More than enough food.
Only down side, music was too loud.
If you pack a pistol, Chuy's is not posted.
Never leave your cave without your club.

Eating a late breakfast at Chick-fil-A. It is very busy for 10 am.

So, I ask the manager, "How's business today?"

"A little overwhelming!" he says.

Bless the Lord and all His people turning out today!

I chatted briefly with the Neal family who had driven in from Kingston to show their support for Chick- fil-A.

The extremely leftist mayors of Boston and Chicago (Mogadishu, USA) don't want Chick-fil-A locating in their cities. Governor Mike Huckabee has designated tomorrow, August 1, as the day to patronize Chick-fi-La.

Get off the fence

Today, the Supremes ruled on Obamacare, upholding the power of the Congress to require that we purchase health insurance. With Chief Justice Roberts swinging widely to the left, we will find out in the coming days the full ramifications of this ruling.

Enter Mitt Romney. What will he do regarding universal health care, considering this closely mirrors his Massachusetts plan. I dunno. He says that on his first day in office, he will do what the court did not do (repeal Obamacare). We'll see.

But I do know this. If Obama is reelected, we will see more Kagans and Sotomayors sitting on the bench for life. With Mitt, we can only speculate.

Looking at the firearms issue, on the other hand, we have this history of Obama-
  • Fast and Furious - Hundreds of Mexicans and two Federal agents are dead as a result of The ATF's gun walking scheme (This story was broken by fellow bloggers David Codrea and Mike Vanderbeogh, not Cheryl Atkinson of CBS).
  • Long gun sale reporting to ATF in contravention of Federal law in border states.
  • Support of UN gun banning schemes.
  • Obama's support for reinstatement and extension of Clinton's Goldilocks gun ban.
  • Obama's historical opposition to lawful handgun carry by good citizens (the Chicago plan).

We have historically been saddled with the choice of voting for what we call the 'lesser of two evils'. That's still a little less evil.

So, conservative, get off the fence, get the splinters out, and vote R in November.
