Identification friend or foe

In telecommunicationsidentification, friend or foe (IFF) is an identification system designed for command and control.  It enables military and national (civilian-located ATC) interrogation systems to identify aircraft, vehicles or forces as friendly and to determine their bearing and range from the interrogator. (from Wikipedia).

Now, defensive handgun carriers can access a database map that shows carry friendly and unfriendly locations. It is known as-

 Friend or Foe

Be sure to:
1. check the list before you go.
2. check the doors every where you go (situations change).
3. post your observations to the map.

There is a good chance that if a thug tries THIS in Tennessee, or any of the Free States, he might find that he suddenly has some extra orifices in his body.

Local control

About guns in parks - -
“I support Second Amendment rights, but* I think we can also draw a distinction here,” Overbey said, and not be “telling local governments what to do." Read the rest of this at Virtual Militia.

*Any time a politician uses the conjunction BUT after the words "Second Amendment", you should grab yours.

Hey Senator Overbey, what happened to the precedence of the Constitution over local control? Would you prefer the ol' timey local control when blacks were consigned to the back of the bus?  Check with George Wallace and Lester Maddox on that.

I am rather surprised at Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett's  taking the same position:
“It’s best left up to local control,” Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett told the News Sentinel on Thursday “I don’t like Nashville telling me what to do. I trust my commissioners.”

Tim, same question for you.

The civil right to self preservation does not stop at the gateway to the People's Park.

March for Life 2014 this Sunday

From Knox County Tennessee Right to Life:

Dear Friend of Life,

All three local TV stations have confirmed that they will cover Sunday’s March for Life because of the increased interest and activity surrounding Amendment 1.  With your help, we will have a large crowd to show the members of the media and our community that we stand for LIFE and are serious about passing this pro-life measure.

The weather looks like it is going to cooperate and it’s not Super Bowl Sunday, so bring the family and invite your friends to the March for Life.  You can also help spread the word through your email lists, Facebook page, Twitter account and all forms of social media.  Here are the details…

2014 March for Life and Rally for Amendment 1

  Sunday, January 26

2:00 PM

Calvary Baptist Church (3200 Kingston Pike)

Please don’t miss this opportunity to show your support for Life and for Amendment 1.

This year, the service will be a time to rally for Amendment 1.  Even if you have never attended this event before, please join us.  While we will again mark the
anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade decision, this year we have a unique opportunity to DO something by voting Yes on 1 and supporting
the Yes on 1 campaign.  Come to the Rally and March to find out how you can help.  Shuttles will be available back to the church, if you choose to march.

Bible reading 2014

For the Christian, a regular Bible reading schedule is of paramount importance. The Bible is God's primary way of communicating with us.

For the non-Christian, the Bible reveals His history of the world, a glimpse into the future, and His plan for you.

Several years ago, a friend, Martin, introduced me to a Bible arranged in chronological order. The text was arranged in the order that the historical events occurred.

Fast forward to recent years: I have been using the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible for regular reading and study. To me, it is the most readable, most easily understood version available. I recently found a chronological Bible in this translation. We will be going through it in the coming year.

If you have been looking for a Bible reading plan for 2014, this is a good one to consider.

This Bible is available at local Christian stores, and at Amazon, by clicking on this link:

Happy New Year!

Why restore Phil to Duck Dynasty?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Never forget. Liberal media, whether print, digital or video, have two basic objectives:
  1. Promoting their leftist agenda.
  2. Making money.
These objectives are not always compatible, so when the first interferes with the second, they have to find a way to move away from the knee-jerk reaction of the first, and keep the cash flowing in.

Hey Phil, when this contract is up, perhaps you and the fam should look for another network.

Android phones from Tracfone

Been wanting a smartphone, but not interested in paying an arm and a leg for a plan with the major carriers?

Then take a look at Tracfone's new Androids. The Samsung Galaxy Centura, is available from Amazon HERE for $110 $100.This is an entry level phone, but with full Android capability. The screen is smaller than I would prefer, but look at the monthly cost of operation:

  • For a $40.00/90 day card, you get 200 minutes per month, 200 texts, and 200 MB of data. This card is going for $34.99 at Amazon right now. Translation: less than $12/month.
  • For about $20.00, you get a card that gives you 60 of each of the above per month.

These 3G phones use Verizon towers, so they work wherever Verizon phones do.

If you want to get into smartphones, without the high cost, this is the best option I could find out there.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Knockout game vs awareness color codes

There has been much in the news of late about the knockout game, in which a thug surprises an unsuspecting victim with a roundhouse blow, or perhaps a stun gun. Some victims have amazing empathy for their attackers. (These have a propensity for removing themselves from the gene pool.)

But the rest of us might review Cooper's Color Codes of Awareness:
             White Relaxed, unaware, and unprepared
                    Yellow Relaxed alertness
                           Orange Specific alert
                                  Red Fight trigger

From my Examiner column: Although officialdom constantly seeks to disarm you with promises of protection, the reality is that you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. Always remain in condition yellow, a relaxed alert state. Note the shortest route to an exit, and don't be caught by surprise. Don't be caught with your back to the door, like Wild Bill Hickock.

When you go out the door, turn on condition yellow.

Emily gets her gun

The word Hero is often used casually in modern American Society. Occasionally, however, someone comes along who truly fulfills the meaning of the word. True heroes usually did not set out to be honored as heroes.
Audie Murphy did not set out to win the Medal of Honor. Abraham, of Ur of the Chaldees, did not set out to be the father of the nation of Israel. Leonidas probably never gave thought to the the fact that history would recognize him as the hero of the Battle of Thermopylae. Joan of Arc, I am sure, never planned to be the heroine* of the 100 years war.
And Emily Miller, on New Year’s Day, 2010, scared and angry, surely never gave thought to the notion that she would be soon hailed as a heroine of the gun rights and self defense community. She was minding her own business, dog-sitting for friends, when she she had a close encounter with thieves. Thankfully, she was not hurt.
This book chronicles her quest to purchase a defensive handgun in our nation’s capital. Handgun possession in the District had been practically prohibited since 1976, the year we celebrated 200 years of independence. Although the ban had been struck down in 2008 with the Heller decision, Washington, D. C. had still kept it practically impossible for the average citizen living there to buy a handgun. Miller, the senior editor of opinion at the Washington Times, began what proved to be a struggle to simply exercise her right to keep a defensive arm in her home.
Interwoven in the saga of Miller’s successful quest is her commentary on subjects of interest to all freedom loving people. She destroys the myths of gun control, the myth of high-capacity magazines and the myth of universal background checks. She includes chapters exposing the exploitation by the Left of the tragic Newtown massacre, the influence of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and liberal media distortion. She also covers the harsh treatment some of our service-members have received in the District.
The book would not be complete without Chapter 15, Emily Got Her Gun . . . and Took it Home on the Metro.
This book is inspiring. It shows what one person, who won’t give up, can accomplish. Miller has paved the way (and laid out a road map) for District residents who desire to have a firearm for self-defense.
Will Emily one day be able to CARRY her gun? I would not count it out, yet.
THIS LINK will take you to my book list. Click through to Amazon, where you can buy the book. I highly recommend it.

Farragut Town Hall workshop

I was unable to attend because of work, but it was reported by a friend that only one person spoke in favor of continuing the ban.

Alderman Bob Markli made a good point as reported in the Knoxville News-Sentinel concerning surveys done by the Parks and Recreation Department, "Surveys are nice but our rights are not subject to a popularity contest."

Alderman Jeff Elliott wants to continue the ban for "safety reasons." Some people just don't get it. They would rather keep you unarmed and helpless. Some of them prefer that . . . and maintain the philosophy, "if I just look straight ahead and whistle a happy tune, nothing will happen to me."

Farragut guns in parks - call to action

Dear friends,

I am forwarding the following email from Bob Markli, a Town of Farragut Alderman. Your help is needed to show the other aldermen and mayor that there are many of us who support the right to meaningful self defense, which should not stop at the boundaries of the parks our taxes pay for.

Please plan to attend the workshop this Thursday. Please forward this to all of like mind. You don't have to be a resident of Farragut to attend.

Fellow citizens,

Thanks to your efforts in writing your elected officials, a workshop is scheduled for a discussion on rescinding the current ban on lawful carry permit holders exercise of their constitutional and lawful right in the Town of Farragut parks that our tax dollars support. This workshop will occur from 6:00PM until 6:55PM just before the regular Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on this Thursday, September 26. The meeting will be open to the public.

I am encouraging each of you to commit yourselves to being in that audience and to encourage as many of your friends and family as possible to be there as well to show support for this common sense correction of a poor decision made in 2009 by the Board. Because of the media propaganda surrounding second amendment issues, many elected officials mistakenly believe pro-liberty issues are politically unpopular. Let's help them see that a tiny, pathetic, insignificant and misguided minority cannot dictate policy against the liberties of free Americans.

Yours for liberty,
Bob Markli
