Other people's money

I see that Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett has proposed, among other cuts, to cut out the discretionary funds for himself and county commissioners. It looks like most commissioners do not want their funds cut.

Have these commissioners considered that they are using OPM (other people's money) to spend as they please? Maybe for a good cause, but those OP are deprived of the opportunity to spend that money as they see fit.

Would those commissioners come to your house and collect that OPM with the barrel of a gun, so that they could spend it as they please? Not directly  - - they would just send the sheriff.
